Become A Peer Leader
To increase access and further expand our capacity to offer workshops for individuals with chronic conditions in our region, we encourage those interested in leading a workshop, especially those with lived experience, to attend facilitator training. There are two levels of training:
A 4-day Stanford Self-Management Program Peer Leader Training. Leaders typically have first-hand experience with a chronic condition themselves and can also be health care professionals. They act as peers when leading the workshops and continue to empower people to better manage their chronic conditions and to live a healthy life.
A 4-day Stanford Self-Management Program Master Training in order to gain certification to train Peer Leaders and facilitate self-management workshops.
The cost of training is covered and on-going support for organizing workshops is offered by the Self-Management Program for Southeastern Ontario, funded by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.
If you have further questions about becoming a facilitator or are interested in becoming one, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or 613-542-2949 x1179.
